The Men’s Chess Team of Armenia has been named the Best Men’s Team of the century by FIDE.
On the night of Round 8 at the FIDE Chess Olympiad, a dazzling event took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Budapest.
The chess gala, dedicated to the centenary of the International Chess Federation, celebrated the exceptional achievements and contributions of individuals, groups, and organizations within the chess community.
Magnus Carlsen was named best player, while Judit Polgar got the honor in the women’s category.
Armenian Chess Federation First Vice President Smbat Lputian received an award for promoting chess in the world.
The Armenian men’s team won the Chess Olympiad three times, in addition to gold medals won at world and European team championships.
