On September 12, within the framework of the 10th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union going on in Yerevan the briefing of the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong for the representatives of the mass media was held.
Martin Chungong underscored with satisfaction the fact that within the framework of the Conference topical themes for the society, as the youth employment and education are discussed, Armenian parliament press office reports.
“The fact that the 10th Global Conference is held in Armenia, already opens great opportunities for the Republic of Armenia as a successful democratic country,” Martin Chungon said.
According to the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the role of the legislative body in decision making and later in terms of policy making. One of the most important components of the youth empowerment in parliament is their representation. According to Martin Chungong, Armenia is one of the best examples in that aspect.
“The young people are ready be next to decision and policy makers. The young people want to be engaged in parliament, in the Government, and in this sense, Armenia is a good example, because the proportion of the young people in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is rather big, and therefore, the decisions made with their participation will also e eflect the needs of the youth,” he documented.
To the conviction of the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, within the framework of the Conference there will be discussions, decisions, as well as policies aimed at youth. This is very important for reaching the goals of the UN sustainable development.
