Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking during the ‘Yerevan Dialogue’ forum, highlighted the importance of holding such an event. He addressed the question of the greatest interest to the audience: is lasting and stable peace in the South Caucasus region possible and realistic?
“This is a question that not only Armenia should answer. I will try to answer the question for our section from the point of view of Armenia. Accordingly, lasting peace is not only possible, but also realistic,” said the Prime Minister.
He presented the justifications of the position with key points.
First, the Prime Minister referred to the often heard idea that 80 percent of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been agreed upon.
“According to the current results of the project, 13 articles and the preamble of the project have been fully agreed, 3 more articles, consisting of two sentences mainly, have been partially agreed, if I am more specific, one of their sentences is agreed, one is not.
Armenia, taking into account that the agreed provisions, in fact, include all the internationally understandable cornerstone provisions for the establishment of relations, we suggest to take what has been agreed, sign it, have a fundamental document, and then continue the discussions on the remaining issues,” Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan reaffirmed his readiness to sign the agreed text of the peace treaty as soon as possible.
