On September 2, the joint second sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Georgian Parliament was held.
Welcoming the Georgian colleagues who arrived in Armenia, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan emphasized the importance of holding sittings between the Committees on Foreign Relations of the Parliaments of the two countries in accordance with the memorandum of cooperation signed jointly in November 2022.
The parties valued the signing of the cooperation Agreement on strategic partnership by the Prime Ministers of the two countries.
"The dynamics of relations at both legislative and executive levels show that we are going the right way. Interdepartmental relations and parliamentary cooperation have become more active in recent years," the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament Nikoloz Samkharadze said, thanking for the warm welcome.
The MPs presented the current political and economic situation of Armenia and Georgia, talked about the close cooperation with the European Union. Sargis Khandanyan touched upon the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and underscored the importance of concluding the peace treaty in ensuring long-term stability in the region. The importance of recognizing the territorial integrity of all the states of the region was underlined.
The next joint sitting of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the RA National Assembly and the Parliament of Georgia will be held in Tbilisi.
From the Armenian side, the members of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Maria Karapetyan, Lena Nazaryan and Hripsime Grigoryan attended the sitting, from the Georgian side - the Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament Mariam Lashkhi, the Committee members Irakli Mezurnishvili, Khatia Tsilosani.
