If Yerevan intends to withdraw from that statement (November 9 statement - ed.), Yerevan will announce its intention.
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this during today's press conference, answering the question regarding the fact that last week, against the background of accusations from Moscow, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry announced that there is not a single key point of the November 9 statement that has not been irreversibly violated. So, does this mean that Armenia is going to abandon that statement?
According to the Prime Minister, the statement of November 9 cannot be viewed as an episode, but should be viewed in its entirety.
Nikol Pashinyan reminded that during the press conference he addressed the issue of prisoners, hostages and other detained persons.
“I think the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave a proper response. Moreover, I want to say the following: with the statement, which caused the reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an attempt was made to say that regional communications are not opened due to Armenia’s sabotage. I can say that the communications of the region have not been opened until this moment, including due to the comments of a number of Russian partners that have nothing to do with the logic of the document and contradict it.
Moreover, those comments often and mostly contradicted the wording of the Russian President's decree of November 9, 2020, about which I have spoken several times.
As for the topic of the opening of regional communications, Armenia not only does not sabotage this topic, but is also seriously interested, and this project is called ‘Crossroads of Peace’. Moreover, I must say that I have received feedback from a number of Russian partners that they support and welcome the ‘Crossroads of Peace’.
There is no exaggeration: we are ready to start the implementation of this project tomorrow, moreover, we are ready to open the roads with motor roads tomorrow.
Internationally, ‘Crossroads of Peace’ is a very important project. That topic that is constantly being tried to speculate whether Armenia is ready to provide a road, communication between the Republic of Nakhijevan and Azerbaijan itself, yes, it is ready, we have said about it.
Are we ready to record that there are certain features in that communication? Yes, and we have never denied that. However, it is also obvious that no circumstances related to Armenia's sovereignty, jurisdiction and territorial integrity can be in doubt," Nikol Pashinyan emphasized.
