The route, which should connect the western regions of Azerbaijan with Nakhijevan through the territory of Armenia, is being discussed within the tripartite working group for unblocking all economic and transport channels in the South Caucasus, under the joint chairmanship of the vice prime ministers of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the weekly briefing.
"The work in the tripartite working group is proceeding within the framework of the tripartite agreements," the diplomat said and emphasized that Moscow's position on the unblocking of communications between Baku and Yerevan is certain and known to everyone.
"We take as a basis that the relevant agreements are reached and implemented by mutual consent of the parties and on mutually acceptable terms, so that it corresponds to the interests of both Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the neighbors," Zakharova noted.
