Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi, congratulated him on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran's Foreign Ministry reports.
Fidan expressed Turkey's readiness to continue political consultations with the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at strengthening and developing bilateral relations. He also said Ankara is ready to collaborate and consult with Iran on important regional issues and international developments.
Referring to the expanding Tehran-Ankara ties, the Turkish foreign minister underlined the need to strengthen political consultations over the tensions in the West Asia region.
Araghchi for his part thanked the top Turkish diplomat for his congratulations and stressed the necessity of enhancing the good relations between the two countries.
He voiced Tehran's readiness to strengthen constructive dialogue aimed at expanding cooperation in all existing areas.
Elsewhere, the Iranian diplomacy chief referred to the worsening situation in the West Asia region and the terrorist actions of Israel "aimed at escalating tensions and spreading instability across the region, emphasizing the need for continued consultations among Islamic countries, particularly between the two important nations of Iran and Turkey."
