Jeyhun Bayramov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a telephone conversation with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulating him on his appointment as the top Iranian diplomat, and wishing him success, Foreign Ministry of Iran reports.
The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan referred to his country's desire to develop friendly relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran based on good neighborliness, voicing hope that cooperation between Tehran and Baku would further expand during the new period.
Araghchi also thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart, stating that the development of friendly relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, based on mutual interests, is among the priorities of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Araghchi underlined the need to tap into the existing capacities to that end.
During the talks, the top Iranian and Azeri diplomats also touched on regional developments in the Caucasus while discussing some international issues.
The two sides invited each other to visit Tehran and Baku and emphasized the need to invigorate bilateral relations through continuing the exchange of high-level delegations, and consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Araghchi and Bayramov also stressed the continuation of cooperation between the representatives of the two countries in regional and international forums.
