The special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, referred to the visit of President Vladimir Putin to Azerbaijan during the briefing.
She noted that the presidents of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan thoroughly discussed the topic of reconciliation between Baku and Yerevan.
"All our efforts in this matter are in line with the spirit of special alliance relations with both Baku and Yerevan, which are based on deep historical and cultural ties and a common desire to build a strong security system in the region. As for the possible increase in tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, we regularly call on Yerevan and Baku to show restraint and avoid any actions that aggravate the situation. All controversial issues should be resolved exclusively in a peaceful, political-diplomatic way," said Zakharova.
