In the weekly briefing, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the reaction of Armenia's Foreign Ministry to the statement of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, noting that Yerevan allegedly blames others for its own strategic miscalculations.
"Final agreements regarding the start of railway communication could not be reached due to the uncompromising position of the Armenian side on border control issues. "Yerevan departed from the agreements agreed earlier on November 9, 2020 and began to insist on the principle of reciprocity, demanding the presence of Russian border guards on the Azerbaijani side as well," Zakharova noted.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry complained that the Armenian side actually froze the participation in the joint trilateral working group. According to her, Yerevan misses the opportunity not only to establish transport communication with its neighbors, but also to contribute to the regulation of the situation in the entire region.
