A federal-level emergency has been declared in Russia’s Kursk region. Measures are being taken to assist the displaced population.
Ukrainian sources report that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have advanced, capturing several Russian settlements and taking soldiers as prisoners. Ukrainian military forces are fortifying positions around the city of Sudzha. For the first time in four days, Russia confirmed that Ukrainian forces are present in the outskirts of Sudzha city. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that additional units have been sent to the Sudzhansk district.
However, the Ministry also announced that strikes are being carried out on Ukrainian forces, and their advancement is being halted. The Ministry also reported that dozens of Ukrainian drones targeted the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Lipetsk, Kursk, Voronezh, and Oryol overnight. A fire broke out at the Lipetsk military airfield, and evacuations have been declared in several settlements, with reports of casualties among civilians.
Russian President Vladimir Putin held an emergency meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council. During the meeting, he emphasized that the agenda includes important issues related to combating terrorism. A report was presented by the head of the Federal Security Service, Alexander Bortnikov.
