Reuters. The chief of Russia's general staff, Valery Gerasimov, told President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday (August 7) that a Ukrainian offensive in Russia's Kursk region had been halted.
In televised comments, Gerasimov said Russian forces were continuing to "destroy the enemy" in areas near the border.
