Minister of Economy of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan on Friday received the recently appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Francoise Jacob. This was reported by Armenia's Ministry of Economy.
"The priority for us is the expansion of our cooperation programs with the relevant agencies of the United Nations toward achieving the goals of poverty reduction, environmental protection, and sustainable development," said Papoyan.
The parties discussed the projects being implemented in Armenia’s economy, the continuation of joint work aimed at the country’s economic development, and the possibilities of expanding cooperation in trade, agriculture, and a number of other domains.
They reflected also on the work aimed at ensuring long-term stable living conditions for addressing the needs of Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia.
Gevorg Papoyan noted that the Armenian government is making efforts to overcome regional conflicts and wants to create a new reality where all countries in the region will be connected by active political, economic, and cultural ties. In this context, the minister of economy presented the Crossroads of Peace initiative undertaken by the Armenian government and which can become an important component of both regional and broader economic cooperation.
