Israel's call to exclude Turkey from NATO will not receive support from the alliance, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says.
Turkish President Recep Erdogan said on July 28 that his country can "enter Israel" the same way it entered Nagorno-Karabakh and Libya. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz responded by calling to exclude Turkey from NATO, which is one of the oldest members of this alliance.
"Nothing will be achieved from the call of the Israeli Foreign Minister. Turkey's membership in NATO cannot be questioned. In addition, Turkey is not the only country whose opinion on the Palestinian issue does not coincide with the West. There are countries that also take a stance against Israel, with different tones of voice. Spain, Ireland, and Norway have officially expressed their position in the context of the recognition of the Palestinian state," Fidan told Sabah newspaper.
