The Republic of Turkey can open the border with neighboring Armenia in the event of the normalization of relations between this country and Azerbaijan, stated Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
"The negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia continues. We [i.e. Turkey] have to prepare our scenario in case of a positive result, and work is being done in this direction. If the normalization process is completed, we will activate the positive scenario; that is, we can open our gates at the border [with Armenia]," the Turkish FM told Sabah daily.
Earlier it was reported that Turkish and Armenian special representatives Serdar Kilic and Ruben Rubinyan held a meeting at the border of the two countries on July 30, reaffirming their intention to continue the process of normalization of bilateral relations without preconditions.
