Hungary, which holds the EU presidency, invited the bloc's justice ministers and interior ministry chiefs to a two-day meeting in Budapest, but not all turned up. A number of countries are boycotting Hungarian events due to disagreements with Viktor Orbán on the Ukraine issue.
The issue of compliance of EU laws with the challenges of the time is on the agenda of the informal meeting of justice ministers of the bloc countries in Budapest.
10 of the 27 EU ministers attended the meeting of the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Most of the countries of the alliance did not present ministers, but lower-level officials.
In the coming days, within the framework of the Hungarian presidency, an informal meeting of the EU health ministers will also take place in Budapest, but the foreign ministers will meet in Brussels after the vacation.
