North Korea's balloons carrying trash were seen from its border with South Korea on Wednesday (July 24), marking Pyongyang's tenth launch since May, Reuters reports.
White balloons from North Korea, suspected to be carrying an assortment of trash, flew across the heavily fortified border as South Korea’s military loudspeakers were broadcasting messages targeting the North. South Korean residents living near the border expressed worry about the balloons triggering tensions on the peninsula.
South Korea’s military confirmed the North had sent another batch of trash-laden balloons earlier on Wednesday. Some of them have landed near South Korea's presidential office and trash carried by the balloons was identified in the area around the government complex in the Yongsan area, the Presidential Security Service said in a statement on Wednesday (July 24).
The objects in the balloons contained no contaminants or other risks, it added.
