The President of Azerbaijan arrived in London at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Great Britain to participate in the summit of the European Political Community (EPC), which will continue until July 20.
The European Political Community is an intergovernmental organization created for political and strategic discussions on the future of Europe, proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron in May 2022.
The objective of the Macron project is to provide a platform to coordinate the policies of all European countries and to promote political dialogue and cooperation to address issues of common interest to strengthen the security, stability and prosperity of the European continent, in particular related to the energy crisis. The European political community also includes non-EU countries such as Great Britain, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Ukraine and Moldova, Turkey, Georgia and Armenia.
The European political community held 3 meetings. A meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev has already taken place twice within the framework of that summit. The first was in Prague in 2022, when the parties announced that they recognized each other's territorial integrity within the framework of the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. For the second time, in June 2023, Pashinyan and Aliyev met in Chisinau. Aliyev boycotted the meeting held in Granada last October.
