US President Joe Biden addressed the Americans after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, his potential rival in the November presidential election. He condemned the assassination attempt against Trump.
"Politics should never be a battlefield," said the head of the White House and added that he intends to continue to actively defend "democracy and the rule of law", calling for action at the ballot box "without violence".
"Political rhetoric has heated up in this country, it's time to calm down. We need to temper our politics and remember that when we disagree with each other, we are not enemies. We are neighbors, friends, co-workers, fellow citizens, and most importantly, Americans. We must be together," the US President said.
