The United States, after the indefinite postponement of the Noble Partner 2024 exercises, has frozen the aid provided to Georgia. Uzra Zeya, US Deputy Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights, who visited the republic on July 12, announced this.
The reason for such a decision was the adoption of the 'Law On Foreign Agents' in Georgia. As a result of that law, the USA froze the aid provided to Georgia, the integration into the European Union will not take place either," Zeya stated, without elaborating on what kind of aid we are talking about.
"The concerns related to Georgia's anti-democratic trajectory are global, and we call on the Georgian government to listen to them," Zeya said in an interview with the Civil Georgia portal. According to him, representatives of the US and the EU "have often expressed their concerns directly to the government, both publicly and privately."
"I think we can only conclude that Georgia's current path is incompatible with democratic values, which are the basis of membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, and thus endangers Georgia's path to Euro-Atlantic integration," said Zeya.
