After the meeting held in Islamabad, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif made statements.
Aliyev said that the two countries support each other in all issues, including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, and cooperate in all international organizations. The President of Azerbaijan also thanked the leadership of Pakistan for their support in the 44-day war, and emphasized that Pakistan has not established diplomatic relations with Armenia.
“During the victory celebrations of November 2020, our people held the flags of Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkey in their hands,” Aliyev emphasized.
He said that he has already discussed several projects in energy, infrastructure, communication, defense industry and other sectors with the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Sharif, for his part, described the meeting with Aliyev as “effective”. He reaffirmed Islamabad's support for Azerbaijan's position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
The official noted that they agreed with Aliyev to expand bilateral trade, which is “less than 100 million dollars and does not reflect the strength of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.” Sharif also informed about the discussions on making an initial investment of $2 billion in mutually beneficial projects.
