Foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan met. At a joint press conference, Badr Abdel-Atti addressed the situation in the Middle East, stating that negotiations are being held with the Lebanese and Israeli parties, as well as regional and international actors, "to avoid a large-scale confrontation and a difficult scenario on the Lebanese front."
"There have been negotiations in recent days, there are meetings in Qatar," said the Egyptian Foreign Minister.
Israel and the Lebanon-based Hezbollah movement regularly report mutual attacks. The Israeli side threatens to launch an operation against Lebanon if Hezbollah does not stop the shelling of Israel's border areas.
The head of Hezbollah also announced yesterday that Hamas is negotiating with Israel on a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, and if an agreement is reached, Hezbollah will stop its operations, although it is not afraid of a bigger war.
