“In a few hours, a trilateral meeting will take place in Washington, chaired by Secretary Blinken, with the participation of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Secretary Blinken will convey the following message: the parties are very close and have made incredible progress, especially considering where they were just a year ago. The peace agreement has the potential to unlock significant opportunities for the peoples of both countries”, USAID Administrator Samantha Power highlighted while addressing Azerbaijan's demands within the framework of the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations.
"These are indeed substantial opportunities - enhanced connectivity, transport benefits, and ultimately improved livelihoods for individual families, increased employment opportunities, and accelerated economic growth.
Armenia's economy is already on a very positive trajectory, but for the Armenian people to engage in more regional trade, to have open borders for goods, and for people to move freely, would be a significant positive shift that will bring great opportunities.
The unresolved issues are extremely complex, and many are very sensitive for both governments and the peoples of both countries. However, from the perspective of the United States, one thing is certain: we hope that the parties will recognize that the opportunities to be unlocked in this way are too important to miss," she said.
