Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan are a priority for the United States, and Washington will continue to work in this direction. Deputy Press Secretary of the US Department of State Vedant Patel stated this at a briefing with journalists, touching upon the possibility of organizing a meeting between Armenia and Azerbaijan during the (NATO) summit.
“In the context of the issue in the South Caucasus [meaning discussions between Yerevan and Baku], this is a priority for us, a priority for the Secretary and other officials across this department. I have no doubt that it’s something we’ll continue to work towards. I just don’t want to speak to the schedule yet,” said Patel.
