Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Baiba Braže within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Latvia, the National Assembly press office reports.
Alen Simonyan underscored that one of the priorities of the Republic of Armenia is the launch of the visa liberalisation dialogue, informing that in that issue Armenia also expects the help of the Republic of Latvia.
Speaking about the Crossroads of Peace project initiated by the Government of Armenia, the NA President noted that that project designs development of the regional communications based on the principles of sovereignty, reciprocity and legal equality. Regarding the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, Alen Simonyan reaffirmed the faithfulness of the Republic of Armenia to the principle of the recognition of mutual territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata declaration. Highly appreciating the role of the EU Observation Mission deployed in Armenia, Alen Simonyan also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Latvia for the provided humanitarian help to support the Armenian refugees of Nagorno Karabakh.
Issues on the repatriation of the Armenian captives being held in Azerbaijan were also discussed.
