At the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, responding to a question from Sona Ghazaryan, a member of the Armenian delegation, stated that the Committee of Ministers fully supports the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"I hope that the ongoing discussions will soon lead to the signing of an agreement, which will allow the region to restore the necessary stability. Political will at the highest level plays a key role in reaching a peace agreement, taking into account and respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both countries. Back in 2001, when the two countries joined the organization, they agreed to resolve the conflict peacefully. The confidence-building measures proposed by the Council of Europe are available to promote dialogue and reconciliation between them", said Gabrielius Landsbergis.
