On June 20, the delegation led by the RA NA Vice President, the Head of the Armenia-China Friendship Group Hakob Arshakyan met with the Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Chen Zhou in Beijing.
“Within the framework of the RA foreign policy Chain has a special role and significance. We are ready to continue deepening the cooperation existing with People’s Republic of China (PRC),” Hakob Arshakyan said, underscoring that the partner’s status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization had its role for the further development of cooperation between Armenia and China.
The NA Vice President welcomed the active involvement of the PRC in the development of the South Caucasus, which has a positive influence also on the stability and security of our region.
Armenia and China are active participants of the ancient civilizations, and they cooperate also in that format. Armenia participates in the creation of the Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Alliance (SEACHA), and our country is ready to actively cooperate in preservation of cultural monuments with the Chinese side.
Both sides stressed the Armenian-Chinese trade-economic cooperation, and its volumes are consistently developing at a high pace. In 2023, the volumes of bilateral goods trade over registered unprecedented indicators. In this context, the NA Vice President underscored that China is the second big trade partner.
The Chinese companies are actively involved in the big projects being implemented in the Republic of Armenia, as the construction of the North-South highway and Kaps reservoir. The North-South highway is of vital importance for Armenia, which is part of the concept of the Crossroads of Peace initiated by the RA Government, and can be connected with the Chinese One Belt, One Road initiative. The Armenian side is interested in the projects with the participation of Armenia within the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative by the President of China Xi Jinping.
During the meeting the NA Vice President presented in detail the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and the regional developments, the agreements reached on the delimitation and demarcation being carried out on the basis Alma-Ata Declaration. Hakob Arshakyan noted that our region needs long-term peace.
