Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis welcomed Armenia's efforts to continue the path of democratic reforms, the country's resilience and strengthening relations with Europe during his meeting with Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, Lithuanian Foreign Ministry reports. During the meeting, the prospects for deepening bilateral relations, the security situation in the region and the importance of supporting Ukraine were discussed.
"Armenia's turning to the path of European integration strengthens the entire region. More European Union in Armenia means greater resilience, a stronger economy and more support for difficult but necessary changes," said Landsbergis.
During the meeting, consistent Lithuanian support for the most active role of the European Union (EU) in Armenia was discussed, strengthening the EU's expert and financial support for reforms and deepening EU-Armenia relations.
"Lithuania, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary of EU membership this year, has accumulated valuable transformation experience. We want and can share this experience with you, especially in the fields of cyber security, energy diversification and economic security," said the head of Lithuanian diplomacy.
Landsbergis thanked for Armenia's support to Ukraine. "Ukraine has become a symbol of the struggle for the fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Only after achieving victory over the aggressor Russia we can hope for stability in the South Caucasus region as well", said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
