The White House has put an end to the dispute over the locations of the F-16 fighters being transferred to Ukraine; all of them will be deployed on Ukrainian territory. This was stated by Joe Biden's national security adviser Jake Sullivan, Top War reports.
Washington denied all Kyiv’s plans to station transferred American aircraft at airfields outside of Ukraine; all fighters should be based on Ukrainian territory. According to Sullivan, it was under this condition that the United States gave permission to transfer the aircraft to Kyiv. So all the plans announced by the Kyiv junta to deploy fighters in Poland or Romania will remain just statements.
"The plan is to station F-16s in Ukraine. The bilateral security agreement that President Biden and President Zelensky signed emphasizes this point: We want to help Ukraine obtain these funds. Such funds must be placed in Ukraine," said a US administration spokesman.
Earlier in Kyiv, plans were announced to station some Western aircraft on the territory of countries neighboring Ukraine, in particular Romania and Poland, supposedly as “spare” aircraft. Prior to this, a number of Ukrainian politicians voiced plans to station all aircraft at foreign air bases. However, Russia warned that in this case these airfields would become a legitimate target for Russian missiles.
