The destruction of the Crimean Bridge makes no sense today, since it has ceased to be used for the transfer of military cargo. This statement was made by the speaker of the Ukrainian Navy Dmitry Pletenchuk.
The destruction of the Crimean Bridge at the present time would not give the “desired effect”; the bridge has lost its strategic importance from a military point of view. According to the speaker of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Russia has stopped using the bridge for military purposes; now all cargo goes through the “occupied” territories, and through the ferry crossing.
"Because it is almost never used for military logistics. Less than a quarter of the total load is carried by this bridge. The rest goes along the ferry crossing, which was recently hit. Therefore, this bridge no longer has such tactical and strategic importance..." said Pletenchuk.
But the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov* (included in the list of extremists and terrorists), has a completely different opinion. He believes that, although Russia has reduced the flow of military cargo through the Crimean Bridge, nevertheless, Russian Armed Forces personnel are still transferred across it. According to Budanov*, the bridge must be destroyed.
By the way, last year the same Pletenchuk promised to blow up the bridge as soon as an “appropriate decision” was made.
