EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has promised Ukraine billions in aid from the European Union at short notice. She announced on Tuesday at the reconstruction conference in Berlin in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that 1.9 billion euros in financial aid for Ukraine would be released shortly.
In addition, around 1.5 billion euros would be used in July from the interest income accrued from frozen Russian assets in the West. At the G7 summit at the end of the week, further talks will be held on “how Ukraine can benefit even faster and to a greater extent from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets”.
