Economy Minister of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan received India's ambassador to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, on Friday, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia reports.
The interlocutors discussed the development of Armenian-Indian trade and economic relations, and the expansion of their cooperation in agriculture and industry. In this connection, the minister proposed to consider the option of building a copper smelter in Armenia using the advanced technology of India.
Besides, Papoyan considered it possible to deepen Armenian-Indian cooperation in jewelry and to represent Armenia, with a national pavilion, at India’s jewelry exhibitions.
Emphasizing that the Armenian government attaches importance to the chemical and metallurgical industry as well, the economy minister invited Indian companies to collaborate with the Armenian side within the framework of Green Chemistry projects.
The holding of international and specialized exhibitions and business forums was emphasized by both parties in order to promote cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
The parties reflected also on the Crossroads of Peace project of the Armenian government, which can become an important component of regional and broader economic cooperation.
