In the future, Iran considers a closer format of cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union than the status of an observer country, Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, stated at the St. Petersburg International Economic Conference.
He expressed the opinion that Iran imagines itself as part of the Union, and observer status is only the first step.
Slepnev reminded that Iran is not a WTO member. According to him, for the development of cooperation with Tehran, a huge amount of work will be required to activate all the mechanisms that are currently working in the EAEU.
