The Russian border guard troops left the Gegharkunik Province on the same day as the events of September 2022, a few hours before. Gegharkunik Province Governor Karen Sargsyan said about this in a conversation with journalists.
"After that, they were in the Verin Shorzha area, they tried to organize an operation, I mean a meeting with the Azerbaijani armed forces, and they came under bombardment. This material was circulated in the press, you all saw that Russian cars were also bombed," said the Governor, noting that the Russian border guards were in the Sotk area.
Referring to the border delimitation in the province, he mentioned. "If border delimitation is to be carried out, you are all aware that during the events of September 2022, the Azerbaijani armed forces invaded the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and there was an attack on 12 settlements adjacent to the border of our region, and as a result, they are in the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in a number of areas, and as a result of the border delimitation, they will go back to their starting positions, and the settlements of Armenia which are directly targeted by these forces today, will already be safe, secure," said Karen Sargsyan.
