Hungary continues to diversify its supplies to reduce dependence on Russian gas. This was stated by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó during a speech at the Baku Energy Forum.
According to him, the country's annual gas consumption is 9-10 billion cubic meters, of which only 1.5 billion cubic meters are produced by Hungary itself.
"In order to reduce the dependence on Russian gas, efforts have been made and are being made to buy gas from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Qatar," the Minister noted. He also emphasized that Hungary bought gas from Azerbaijan and Turkey for the first time this year.
Péter Szijjártó added that the negotiations in Qatar are ongoing and an agreement will be reached in that area in the near future.
