Since early this morning, thousands of people have gathered in Tehran to participate in the last farewell ceremony of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other victims who died in a helicopter crash.
Before the funeral ceremony, Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei read a ritual prayer. On May 23, the funeral ceremony will take place in the holy city of Mashhad in the north-east of Iran.
Foreign officials and high-ranking delegations will attend the commemoration ceremony of the victims in Tehran.
According to Iranian government news agencies, about 40 foreign delegations are expected to participate. Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas, was also present at the farewell.
Five-day mourning is announced in Iran.
