Baku responded to the statements of French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin. He called Azerbaijan a dictatorship and noted that Baku interferes in the internal affairs of New Caledonia.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman Aykhan Hajizada demanded an apology from France, adding, "otherwise it will have an even greater negative impact on bilateral relations."
According to Hajizada, "unlike France, fundamental rights and freedoms are fully ensured in Azerbaijan."
"Since the restoration of independence, Azerbaijan has constantly formed and developed as a society loyal to democratic values," added the Spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
