The Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay on Tuesday unanimously, 74 votes in favor by the 74 MPs present, passed the draft law declaring April 24 as Armenian Genocide Memorial Day in Uruguay, Diario Armenia reports.
This bill was passed by the Uruguayan Senate on May 7. So if there is no consideration by the executive branch of power in Uruguay, it will be publicized as a law in the country in the coming days.
The passed law stipulates that April 24 of each year is declared Armenian Genocide Memorial Day for the broadcasting of audiovisual content of Uruguayan radio and open television, for subscribers with the television's own signals and television services.
