Today, the solemn ceremony of the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Nagorno-Karabakh was held in the Ivanyan settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh, during which First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation, Chief of the General Staff of the Ground Forces Yevgeny Nikiforov announced that the Russian peacekeepers performed their tasks at a high level.
"3.5 years ago, as a result of joint efforts, the war in Karabakh was stopped. The leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia signed a trilateral joint statement on ending the war. Almost the next day, the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in the region began, positions were established in the Karabakh territory, and the ground was created for the formation of stable peace in the region," said Yevgeny Nikiforov.
He noted that in the process of restoring peace, the miners cleared thousands of hectares of land and defused 30,000 explosives, more than 90,000 people were given humanitarian aid, and more than 1,000 civilians received quality medical care.
