Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan discussed a potential creation of an investment fund in the country with Noubar Afeyan, founder of venture capital firm Flagship Pioneering, the Ministry reported on Wednesday.
The fund is expected to improve cooperation between the Armenian authorities and the private sector and ultimately to attract foreign investments into the country.
Hayrapetyan mentioned the important role of the Armenian diaspora in all sectors of the country’s economy. He also presented the projects the High-Tech Ministry currently works on to Afeyan, who stressed the importance of all projects aimed at boosting Armenia’s development, including scientific ones, and pledged to use his connections and skills to help the country.
The meeting also touched upon the prospect of well-known diasporal Armenians visiting Yerevan in October for the World Congress on Information Technology.
