On May 14, Sahak Sargsyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, presented his letter of credence to Claver Gatete, Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), assuming his duties as Armenia’s Permanent Representative to UNECA.
The Executive Secretary congratulated the Permanent Representative of Armenia, wishing him success in his new position. Ambassador Sargsyan has stressed that Armenia attaches special importance to boosting relations with African countries and expanding its involvement in the continent.
The sides discussed the current cooperation and prospects underlining the need to join efforts to support Africa in implementing UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and Africa’s Agenda 2063. They outlined areas of further collaboration, based particularly on the provisions of the memorandums signed between UNECA and Armenia’s Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) and Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF).
