Achieving a stable and comprehensive peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains the priority of the OSCE. Dialogue, diplomacy is the only way. OSCE Chairman-in-Office Ian Borg said about this during a joint press conference with Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
"We are convinced that a constructive dialogue between equals, guided by pragmatism and honesty, is indispensable for achieving a lasting and comprehensive settlement. Advances in border delimitation are definitely a valuable step in that direction.
Tomorrow in Baku I will respond to these messages, convey these messages to the Azerbaijani interlocutors and call for a credible, sustainable commitment to the negotiations.
According to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, after decades of conflict and suffering, it is imperative that the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan achieve the peace, security and prosperity they truly deserve, he said, adding that the OSCE is ready to be more involved and support humanitarian efforts in the region, efforts to solve problems, particularly the crisis situation of displaced persons and people living in conflict-affected areas.
"At the same time, we will continue to support all national and international initiatives that create positive momentum and provide tangible results to effectively overcome the conflict," he said.
Ian Borg also emphasized that Armenia and the OSCE cooperate together on important initiatives, including security sector reforms and increasing security resilience to the consequences of climate change, then concluding the speech, he added: "Thank you Mirzoyan, you can count on our support, just like I count on you... I assure you that my goal, as the OSCE chairman, is to strengthen and deepen our cooperation, to promote peace and stability in this difficult times."
