We are deeply alarmed about democratic backsliding in Georgia, Jake Sullivan, National Security Adviser of the US President, wrote in his X microblog.
"Georgian Parliamentarians face a critical choice - whether to support the Georgian people’s EuroAtlantic aspirations or pass a Kremlin-style foreign agents' law that runs counter to democratic values," Sullivan stated.
He added that the goal of the rhetoric of the ruling 'Georgian Dream', which proposed the legislative initiative, is to isolate Georgians from the USA and Europe.
The bill will be discussed in the third reading on May 13. Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the bill will be accepted and will only contribute to Tbilisi's membership in the European Union.
