On May 8, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly.
Regional issues were discussed.
Minister Mirzoyan presented the latest developments regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the border delimitation process, emphasizing the importance of a clear commitment to the principle of territorial integrity and the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.
Referring to the prospects of sustainable economic development in the South Caucasus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia emphasized Armenia's interest in unblocking regional communications and the opportunities provided by the realization of the "Crossroads of Peace" initiative developed by the Armenian Government. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the key principles of sovereignty, national jurisdiction, reciprocity, and equality, which are the basis of the project.
Humanitarian issues were also touched upon.
