Tariffs for direct rail deliveries from China to Russia and Belarus increased by $500-800 depending on the destination station, and sea freight rates increased by $800-1500. About this with reference to data from forwarding companies writes transport and logistics portal Infotrans Media Belarus.
The increase was initiated by the Chinese side. Representatives of the companies cite the main reason for the decrease in the number of free containers in China and the large traffic jams that have arisen at the border.
It is also noted that there are no more empty seats left on ships coming from China. Shipping lines offer vacancies only at the end of the current month and the beginning of June.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia they began to scrap normal Chinese containers, because their return, taking into account the funds received from scrap collectors, turned out to be less profitable.
In September 2023, it became known that about 150 thousand containers from China had accumulated in Russia. This situation arose due to trade imbalances. After the delivery of Chinese goods, the containers turned out to be unclaimed because there was nothing to transport in the opposite direction.
