The number of foreign tourists who visited Armenia in January-March 2024 dropped to 435,775 from t 449,981 in the same period of 2023, a decrease of 3.2%, the National Statistical Committee reported.
Among the travelers who visited Armenia in the first quarter, 172,175 were women and 263,600 were men. Travelers aged 36-63 years old visited the country the most (224,572), while the least number of tourists were aged 16-17 years old (4,928).
Most tourists came from Russia (184,317 people or 42.3% of the total, a decline of 21.9% compared to the first quarter of last year), Georgia (61,830 people or 14.2%, an increase of 15.5%) and Iran (33,729 people or 7.7%, an increase of 32.6%).
Besides, in January-March of this year Armenia was also visited by citizens from India (13,216 people), Philippines (9,417), Ukraine (5,542), USA (4,942), Germany (3,649), France (3,501), Belarus (3,124), China (2,757), Italy (2,594), Turkey (2,382), Netherlands (1,796), UAE (1,785), UK (1,561), Egypt (1,381), Belgium (1,106), Moldova (1,078), Spain (1,061), Greece (1,055) and Austria (1,019).
The report notes that 86 people came from an unknown country. At the same time, it is reported that 380,770 tourists left the country in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 333,863 in the same period of 2023 (an increase of 14%).
