By ensuring security, we mean diversifying foreign relations, reforming the army, and introducing a comprehensive security and defense system, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a press conference held on May 7. He emphasized that this enumeration of the security sector is, however, not comprehensive.
"We believe that the most effective background tool for ensuring security is legitimacy, that is, diversifying foreign relations on the basis of mandatory legitimacy, because on the basis of illegitimacy, these relations will never be diversified, and secondly, even if they become diverse, they will not have positive effects on security.",- he said.
Referring to the army reforms, Pashinyan noted that many concepts can be discussed in that context, "but if the reforms are not based on legitimacy, on the aim of ensuring the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, the security of the sovereign territory, these reforms will not take place and will not take place for a number of objective and subjective reasons. A comprehensive security and defense system can be effective when it is based on a more legitimate basis, on the need and vision of Armenia, its sovereign territory, ensuring sovereignty".
