Head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell opposes the participation of European Union (EU) representatives in Vladimir Putin’s inauguration, but a common position has not been formed at the moment. This was stated by Peter Stano, representative of the EU diplomatic service, TASS reports.
According to him, the invitations sent by the Kremlin to the opening ceremony were forwarded to the representatives of EU countries in Moscow.
“We are currently discussing with EU member states the form of our response. In foreign policy we always try to have a coordinated EU approach wherever possible… The final decision has not been made yet,” Stano said.
He also added that the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, was “opposed to the EU participating in this event in Moscow.”
Putin’s inauguration ceremony will take place on May 7 at 12:00 Moscow time.
