The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Turkish Parliament, Fuat Oktay, met with the Republican Senators Jim Risch and Thom Tillis and the Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen as part of his visit to Washington.
According to Turkish media, during the negotiations Turkey's bid to purchase F-16 fighter jets from the US, the situation in the Gaza Strip, the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the situation in Iraq and Syria, cooperation within the framework of NATO and the fight against terrorism were discussed.
In a conversation with journalists, Oktay noted that in meetings with US congressmen, he also discussed the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the issue of Cyprus.
The Turkish official noted that if the US stops supporting the Kurdistan Workers' Party, a new page can be opened in bilateral relations. According to him, Ankara and Washington also have differences regarding the situation in Gaza.
