Diyarbakır Bar Association issued a statement on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Day. The statement reads:
"Every April 24 in the Republic of Turkey, the state, the government and the bureaucracy begin to fight against the truth, worrying about who and how to call what happened.
The Amedah Bar Association has come under fire every year for its involvement in the fight, facing investigations and lawsuits against it.
Deportation, genocide, massacre... whatever word you choose, everyone who seeks the truth knows that his path is long and full of obstacles. And denial is a comprehensive, effective, lasting and widespread violation of human rights. Therefore, despite all the judicial abuses, we will never back down from the call to reveal the truth of the Armenian people's experience and the need to face the past. We share the pain of the Armenian people and respectfully remember the victims of the Genocide."
The representatives of the Democratic Regions Party represented in the Turkish Parliament also made a statement.
"On the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 24, 1915, we announce that we will continue to fight to reveal the truth. We share the pain of the Armenian and Assyrian peoples and remember the victims with respect," the statement said.
